Architectural Block

Concrete masonry units offer great versatility. Architectural blocks display a variety of surface finishes that allow for a structural wall and a finished surface to be accomplished with the same installation step. They can be used for interior and exterior walls as well as partitions and a variety of other enclosures. When the same surface finish is used on both faces of block, a single wall can function as both an interior and exterior finish wall.

Terms and Abbreviations

Sash With Sash Block has a vertical groove on the end for a control joint			SMG Single Mortar Groove Block has a centered, vertical score on the face to appear like two 8x8 blocks
SBN *Single Bull Nose* One corner on the face side of the block is rounded			3MG Triple Mortar Groove Block has 3 vertical scores that make the block appear like four 8x4 blocks
DBN Double Bull Nose Two corners on one end of the block are rounded			*Score* Shallow vertical groove on the face of a block
KO Knockout Knockout walls are provided to allow for conduit fixtures			*Flute* Deep vertical grooves on block face. +1 and +2 signify a 1 or 2 in. depth of the groove
SBBB Solid Bottom Bond Beam Block has a solid, flat bottom			*Double Jamb* Block without a sash
*Conduit* Groove to allow for conduit piping			*# Sides, # Ends* Signifies the number of sides and/ or ends on which there is a given surface finish
